Potential Unique Etiologies of CFS & Fibromyalgia: Hypercoaguable State, Neurotoxins, Heavy Metals
- There are a number of unique etiologies that can cause chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and fibromyalgia or exacerbate their symptoms. These include hypercoagulation, neurotoxins and heavy metal toxicity.
- New research demonstrates that many chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia patients are in a state of low level activation of the coagulation system and treatment of this coagulation activation can result in partial or complete resolution of symptoms.
- There is increasing evidence that a chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia can be caused or exacerbated by exposure to toxins produced by living organisms (biotoxins). Research has shown that the exposure can be form both internal (chronic infections) and external sources such as mold infested buildings.
- Also discussed is the potential role that heavy metals play in chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia.
